Oral Surgery in Indianapolis, IN

Oral surgery is a surgical procedure carried out to treat a wide range of dental issues. It includes procedures like dental extractions, implant surgery, dentures, gum grafts, etc. When it comes to oral surgery, the patient has to be well informed about the procedure so that they don’t panic during the treatment.

Types of Oral Surgeries

Dental Implant Surgery

Dental implants are artificial tooth roots that replace your missing teeth. This procedure involves drilling a hole into your jawbone and inserting a titanium post into it. The bone integrates with the post, providing a strong base for the restoration of your missing teeth. After this, a dental crown is attached to the post.

The entire process takes a couple of months depending on your healing process and good health. During the second appointment, we will put the crown onto the post and make sure it fits well in your mouth.

Removal of Impacted Teeth

Impacted teeth are those that get stuck in between your jawbone and gums. They are hard to remove as they are locked in between two solid surfaces. In such cases, you can undergo oral surgery to get your impacted tooth removed. We will give you local anesthesia before commencing the procedure. Once it wears off, you will feel no pain or discomfort in your mouth.

Gum Graft Surgery
Gum graft surgery is performed when there is insufficient gum tissue to cover your teeth. During this procedure, we will take healthy tissue from other parts of your mouth and graft it onto the damaged region of the gums. The gums will become healthy and cover up your teeth after a few months when they have healed completely.

Bone Grafting Surgery
Bone grafting is performed when you have lost sufficient bone mass due to tooth loss or infection in your mouth. We will extract bone marrow from another region of your mouth and transplant it into the infected area through an incision in your gums. The bone grows back after several months, restoring the lost bone mass in your mouth.
